How OdometerIQ uses location in the background

OdometerIQ automatically logs your business drives for tax-deduction reports. To do that, it uses a location foreground service to record each trip's route and distance while the app isn't open. The walkthrough below shows the in-app disclosure a user sees before granting permission, the device runtime permission prompt, and the feature working end to end — a real drive detected and logged automatically.

Disclosure, permission & a real logged drive

A single walkthrough covering every step: (1) the in-app “Auto-track drives” disclosure shown before any permission is requested; (2) the Android runtime location permission, granted by the user; (3) selecting “Allow all the time” for background tracking; and (4) the feature working — a real 1.6-mile drive detected in the background and logged automatically with its route, distance and IRS mileage deduction. Location is used only to detect when a drive starts and ends; nothing is ever sold or shared.
